We have 12 years experience in shearing our own Sheep, llamas and alpacas. Prices vary for travel expenses however a standard fee per head of livestock applies. Sheep are $35 each- llamas and Alpacas $50-$75 each. Fees are also added for catching livestock which are loose in the fields or large enclosures. We also will consider trading lambs towards shearing services.
Shearing animals is necessary for their well being. Removing their wool and fiber allows the animal to remain more comfortable in summer conditions. If you weave or spin, shearing increases the quality of your raw material.
We specialize in small pet flocks- leaving the commercial accounts for shearing crews. It takes about 10 minutes to complete an animal. Llamas and alpacas may take longer for two reasons. 1. they kick 2. their fiber contains dirt and dust which dulls the blades requiring frequent cleaning and often times changing a set in the middle of the shearing job.
And then Fuzzy Wuzzy the baby doll ewe wasnt very fuzzy wuzzy at all.
